THE ART OF LISTENING Led by Legh Burns, Director of the Saratoga Chamber Orchestra.

Perplexed by polyphony? Confused by cadenzas? Have you ever wondered about the inner-workings of music? style? harmony? rhythm? Would you like a user-friendly environment to explore and enhance your appreciation of music? Back by popular demand, a series of informal gatherings led by conductor Legh W. Burns, held over six weeks as he will help us navigate through the components that make up THE ART OF LISTENING.

WHEN: January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and February 7

TIME: 3-4:30pm (This is a time change from the e-newsletter)

WHERE: Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Whidbey Island 20103 State Route 525, 2 miles N. of Freeland WA.

Pianist Sachi Patricia Hirakouji, PhD, will perform at the Mid-Winter Classical Concert.
A Mid-Winter Classical Concert featuring The Seattle Freelance Soloists, 7:00PM, January 31, 2010 at UUCWI (Rte 525, 2 miles North of Freeland) playing Bach, Chopin, Chausson, Chaconne, and Mozart. You won’t want to miss these exciting, talented musicians from Seattle, playing a benefit concert for UUCWIsupported charities and the island’s own Good Cheer Food Bank. The performers come from varied backgrounds, each giving his or her own special touch to your favorite composers. Performers include: Teo Benson, Jackie Evans, Talia Marcus, Roxallanne Medley, Sachi Patricia Hirakouji, Dylan Rieck, and Miodrag Veselinovic. A limited number of tickets are available!
